• tyres, checking tread depth, pressure, and general condition
• lights, including headings and indicators
• mirrors and windows to ensure full visibility
• steering and suspension, keeping an eye out for any usual wear that may affect handling
• fluid levels checked and topped up if necessary
• bodywork and chassis checks
• the exhaust system checks
• auto-electrics
• emissions checks, if applicable
• the tachograph
